2020 Shutdown of Public Education: A Blessing in Disguise

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.  Proverbs 1:7

Have you ever thought that the government's response to covid-19 to close down public education could be an act of God's grace? Perhaps this is the appropriate time to evaluate the condition of public education by holding the system up to God's  standard for educating our children.

On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the furthest from God's standard to 10 being the closest to the Biblical standard for an effective education, evaluate your local public education system:

___    The foundation for public education is a respect and fear of the Lord.

___    Public education teaches the reality of God as Creator of all things.  He sustains all things; He establishes order and purpose for all His creation.  Man is created by God and made in His image.  But Man is also sinful - a broken image of God - and needs deliverance.

___    Public education teaches the truth that God is the author of all truth. He reveals Himself through His creation, through the special revelation of Jesus Christ, and today through the Scriptures - the Bible.

___    Public education teaches that the nature of God's truth is unchangeable, coherent, absolute, objective, and is in unity with all of creation and with God.

___    Public education affirms God as the ultimate value.  It values obedience to God's commands; it defines the good life as living for one greater than self - the Lord Jesus Christ.  It values art, literature, and music that reflects God's glory; it promotes and values integrity and creativity.

___    Public education teaches students to view the world through the lens of Scripture - God's Word.

How did your public school score on this evaluation?  Some of you may be thinking that the purpose of public school is to teach our children how to become proficient in reading, language, and math skills without the need for Bible and God.

Let's return to Proverbs 1:7 that points out this unchangeable truth: Without the fear of the Lord, there is no education.  Without the fear of the Lord as the starting point for education, all that results are generations of fools who despise wisdom and instruction.  There is no other option.

Is that not what we are seeing today? When God is taken out, absolute truth is taken out.

- Throw out the value of God's commands and you have the rebellion of Black Lives Matter and Antifa.

- Toss out the truth about man being made in the image of God and you are left with the confusion and chaos of gender identity.

- Abandon the good life of living for One greater than self, and you produce self-indulgent brats.

- Create a worldview that factors out God and you are left with a world of fools.

- When you use the arts to glorify man and his natural passions, you have the most debased, futile and depraved minds on the planet.

We have been propping up a soul-less, foolish, morally depraved system that has fallen far short of God's loving purpose for the world He created. It's time to return to the beginning of wisdom.
